Admission to a Diploma Program at DArTT requires high school completion or the equivalent. Please see below for Diploma Program equivalency information. In addition, certain advanced art and 3D programs have academic pre-requisites. Details are available in the information kit, which can be downloaded by clicking here. or on the website, per diploma.

Also available is a Non-Diploma status for students who do not meet with the Diploma Program requirements. Please see below for Non-Diploma Program information.

A diploma program is a full 52-week academic program. It includes a variety of core and specialty subjects to give you a well-rounded diploma. If you wish to only take a certain subject from one of our diploma programs, please call one of our representatives. When you complete one of these modules, you will receive a Certificate of Completion for that subject.

The following are considered general academic equivalencies to high school completion:

• Academic Upgrading Level IV
• General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

Students who do not meet the listed academic prerequisites for their program of choice may be considered on an individual basis provided the following requirements are met:

• You are at least 21 years of age
• You have been out of school for at least one year

Mature Student Applicants must also submit the following documentation according to the rules set down by the Nova Scotia Department of Education & Culture:

• Copy of school transcripts
• Personal resume
• Three letters of character reference
• Letter outlining your future plans and the reasons you expect to successfully complete the program of studies
• Reading and Writing Assessment
• Self-Assessment Questionnaire

For students who may not meet the requirements for Diploma status (too young, not out of school long enough for mature student status, etc.), all Programs and Courses offered by DArTT may be taken on a Non-Diploma basis.

Non-Diploma students take the same courses and are provided with the same equipment and software as Diploma students. The only difference is that at the end of the Program or Course, the student will receive an official Certificate of Completion instead of a Diploma. Just check the Non-Diploma box on the application.

Please note that Non-Diploma students may experience difficult in obtaining a government student loan, and should look into alternate forms of payment. Please phone our office for details.
